Golf Displays for Greenbriar Collective (January 2021)

If you ask the guys around the shop about my attitude towards custom work, they would all tell you that I am a Yes Man to a fault. I want to try every project that gets thrown at me. The harder the better. This is especially the case when a friend brings an idea to the table.

Lucky for me, and the shop crew, this project was the perfect combination of custom, quality, and quick.

When Sammy, an old friend, avid golfer, and up and coming influencer, showed me what he was thinking, my eyes lit up. A custom wooden display to show off the tees, balls, and pencils that golfers collect when they visit new courses. I loved the idea, because it was just enough custom and I knew that the grain in the quarter sawn wood would make the front pop.

The entire piece is made from quarter sawn white oak, mostly old barrel scraps. Five pieces total, one solid glue up, sand, oil and out the door. I’d be happy to pump these out all day.

I love how the turtle shell came out in the Hollow Grove piece, and the painted carves came out great too. The most fun was the Philadelphia Country Club logo. The logo depth and detail with the black really pops.

I hope my friends at the collective enjoy the displays, enjoy their golf rounds, and play so many courses they have to order more!
